We are all made by me, you, us and the other
I've been involved in GCED initiatives for a long time, since my teenager years. But I did not know that it was called that. I attended the 3rd Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED in June of 2017. Later on I joined the GCED Youth Network in 2018 as part of the Core Team. I studied Political Science, International Relationships and Journalism. I'm currently completing my master degree in Development Studies. I've been involved in civil society organizations for several years. Profesionally I have experience in working in local and international development organizations mainly around youth development programing.

Think globally, do locally
Hello! I am Valeriia. After facing war at the age of sixteen, I received help from community organizations which raised a belief in myself that being Global Citizens we make a better world. Since then, I have never lost that belief and by promoting GCED in my local community and advocating GCED on a global level, I make my local and global communities more invoilved in SDGs, and more caring about others. As a faciliator and Young professional, I like implementing practical and creative approaches to promoting GCED.

"Ubuntu" I am because we are
I believe in the value and sanctity of all human life, and that every human deserves respect at the barest minimum. This philosophy has guided my interaction and given purpose to my life; developing competence in intercultural communications, peace-building and community development. As an undergraduate I started as a volunteer for local NGOs, grew in this area and began working as the founder of a volunteer initiative promoting literacy for children in underserved public schools. Simultaneously, I worked full-time as a Project Manager for a Foundation using arts to drive education and community development. After a eureka moment in 2018, I realized the power of stories and pivoted to video production and documentary storytelling, which led me on a journey of learning, and growth. On this journey I have documented ‘socially responsible’ stories through ‘The Identity Project’; a social enterprise I currently lead. Our aim is to build bridges and points of human connection between people of diverse backgrounds through stories, shared humanity, empathy and understanding.
